Philanthropist Linny Fowler dies at 73

Bethlehem benefactor was leading supporter of the arts and the needy.

By giving in such a public way, Fowler challenged others to give generously to charity, said Alan Jennings, executive director of the Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley.

“She had such a soft spot for the poorest and the downtrodden,” Jennings said. “She understood how society knocks people down, leaves them out. She wanted to be about holding people up and including them.”

“And you will never find a better philanthropist, I think she is certainly one of the greatest philanthropists the Lehigh Valley has ever seen, and I’m just thrilled that I had such a friendship with Linny.”
